Northwestern Suburbs

Liverpool
Just north of Syracuse, on the shores of Onondaga Lake, sits this suburban community. Liverpool includes the towns of Salina and Clay.

Liverpool is a historic village, but it is also a progressive town. The village itself features some wonderful turn-of-the-century homes, while outside of the village Liverpool has sprawled and grown over the years with many subdivision neighborhoods.

Commerce is alive and well in Liverpool. Shops and services abound in the many small plazas around town. Restaurants are abundant as well. There really isn't any need for Liverpool residents to leave town. Everything they could want is available right there.

For recreation, there is Onondaga Lake Park and Liverpool Golf and Public Country Club. In the Spring, the Syracuse University Crew Team can be seen rowing out across Onondaga Lake. Their boathouse is located at the mouth of the lake in Onondaga Lake Park, which also features biking, rollerblading, and picnicing facilities.

The Liverpool Central School District is one of the largest in the Syracuse area. It is well known for academics as well as sports and music programs. Every year, Liverpool fields some state championship sports teams. Their marching band also is routinely in the running for a state championship title. One of Liverpool High School's best known graduates, Tim Green played in the NFL before becoming a sports announcer on the Fox Network.

There are several new housing developments in Liverpool as well as many developments built in the 1970's. House prices range from $70,000 to around $190,000. Some waterfront and waterview properties exist in Liverpool on Seneca River and on Onondaga Lake.

Baldwinsville
The village of Baldwinsville and towns of Lysander (average home price $124,200) and Van Buren (average home price $78,600) overlap and are generally all referred to as Baldwinsville. Located northwest of Syracuse, Baldwinsville is actually a suburb of Liverpool which is a suburb of Syracuse. Baldwinsville is quite a large area that includes open farmland, a historic village, subdivisions, new construction and a commercial area. Houses are available anywhere from $50,000 for an older home in the village or a completed subdivision to $300,000 plus for a new construction in Radison, a planned community.

Many Baldwinsville residents are employed by Anheuser Busch, SYSCO, or Goulds Pumps right in town. However, it is also an easy commute to Liverpool, Syracuse, and Dewitt via Route 690.

Shopping in Baldwinsville is convenient, with a large grocery store, several banks, and franchised specialty stores. In the summertime, there are farmstands featuring fresh, locally grown produce. Great Northern Mall is just a short drive from the center of town.

The Baldwinsville School District has a great reputation and the test scores to back it up. Though the district includes five elementary schools spread out throughout the area, the high school is compact and centrally located. Baldwinsville is home to a state-recognized athletic facility and fields some strong sports teams every year.
