West Genesee Central School District has both a strong academic program and extra-curriculars. The high school curriculum includes French, Spanish, and German, several Advanced Placement and College Credit courses, and many Fine Arts courses. West Genesee also houses a Syracuse University Teaching Center which provides direct in-service training. Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University offer many courses at the high school that students may elect to take for college credit.
Extra-curriculars at West Genesee are well recognized. The varsity lacrosse team won a New York State Championship. The High School Wind Ensemble is recognized as one of the best musical ensembles in the country, while the marching band has won numerous National Championships. The drama club puts on multiple performances during the year. Other clubs include Chess Club, and Invent America. Seniors interested in Health and Criminal Justice may elect the "New Visions" program.
